Aipanart Decoration Sri Krishna Murari is made in the traditional folk art method of Uttarakhand. A paste of cow dung and cow urine is first applied to the cotton cloth. Ochre clay is then spread over it, and the design is drawn with a solution made from ground rice. Hand-made natural colors are used for the finishing. The result is a brown cloth with Sri Krishna playing the flute, framed by detailed white mandala patterns in the corners. It comes in three designs, so you can choose the one you like best.
The cloth measures 14 x 14 inches, with a 12 x 12 inch Aipan area.
The Meaning of the Materials
- Cow urine: The scriptures treat cow urine as very important. It is used to remove negative energy and defects in objects, and to clear obstacles in auspicious work.
- Indigenous cow dung: According to Vastu Shastra, cow dung is considered sacred and effective. It is believed to send negative forces out of the home and keep positive energy flowing in.
- Ochre clay: It is used for ritual purposes, and for depicting religious idols and structures.
- Rice: Rice is regarded as the best of foods. Akshat (unbroken rice) is a symbol of purity and completeness, and no worship is considered complete without it. Rice is seen as the purest grain because it stays protected inside the husk, out of reach of animals and birds. It is used in worship to draw power, prosperity, and peace, and Maa Lakshmi and Maa Annapurna are said to be pleased by it.
